Rumors Spark Speculation About Ronaldo’s Involvement

Lately, rumors have been circulating about Cristiano Ronaldo potentially playing in the upcoming Club World Cup. Many speculated that rumors may have reinforced by FIFA president Gianni Infantino discussing Ronaldo during a high profile interview. However, Ronaldo has now officially stated he will not play in this month’s tournament.

Infantino’s Hint and Ronaldo’s Cryptic Post

The host of the IShowSpeed YouTube channel asked Infantino when Ronaldo had direct questions about if he would join the Club World Cup. Infantino stated, “Cristiano Ronaldo might play in the Club World Cup,” which certainly got fans worldwide excited. After this, Ronaldo further fueled the speculation by posting an ambiguous post on social media: “This chapter is finished. The story? Still being written.” This post only added even further speculation about what his next career move will be.

Ronaldo’s Official Statement on Club World Cup

On June 7, Ronaldo spoke about these rumors during a press conference. He noted many clubs have contacted him with offers. Ronaldo said “I have had a lot of contacts from clubs. Some are logical; other are not logical. I can’t say yes to every club. You have to look at a short, medium, and long-term plan.” He then stated, “I have practically decided to not play in the Club World Cup, but I have several invitations.” No and what this shows is clubs may be reaching out but he plans to the skip the tournament, thus the story is valid.

Contract and Future Plans After Al-Nassr

Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr contract runs out at the end of June. He confirmed to the camera he is very close to deciding where his next destination will be but has yet to announce it. He is 40 years old, yet he is still showing his exceptional talent. Earlier this week, he netted his 137th goal for Portugal, taking them into the 2025 final of the UEFA Nations League. That goal made him the oldest player to score vs Germany in any major international tournament.
