The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has made a major move to boost tourism in Islamabad by approving consultancy services for three large-scale recreational projects: a theme park, a Ferris wheel, and a cable car system.

During its 75th meeting held on Tuesday, the CDA’s Development Working Party (DWP) gave the green light to PC-II level projects, which will cover the hiring of consultants to carry out feasibility studies and prepare detailed design plans for all three attractions.

For the theme park, the feasibility and design work has been approved at a cost of Rs. 206 million.
The Ferris wheel project will undergo similar consultancy and design services at an estimated cost of Rs. 61.8 million.
Meanwhile, the cable car system consultancy has been sanctioned at a projected cost of Rs. 197.76 million.

Officials noted that Islamabad, with a population now exceeding two million residents, is witnessing an increased demand for modern recreational and entertainment options. Given its status as a key tourist destination for both domestic and international visitors, the city is considered highly suitable for such developments.

These initiatives aim to enhance Islamabad’s appeal as a family-friendly and globally competitive tourist hub.
