Pakistan’s cutlery exports increased by 3.55% during the first ten months of the fiscal year 2024–25, according to recent data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). From July to April, Pakistan exported cutlery worth $49.971 million, up from $48.258 million recorded in the same period of 2023–24.

This growth highlights the continued strength of Pakistan’s cutlery manufacturing industry, which has remained competitive in global markets despite economic challenges. The increase also signals rising international demand for Pakistani-made kitchenware and tools, which are known for their durability and quality.

However, cutlery exports declined in April 2025, falling by 6.73% year-on-year. Exports dropped to $4.188 million in April 2025, compared to $4.490 million in April 2024. The data also shows an 8.86% month-on-month decrease in April exports compared to March 2025, when the value stood at $4.595 million. This short-term dip may result from seasonal demand fluctuations or global shipping delays.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s overall merchandise exports rose by 6.40% during the same ten-month period. Total exports reached $26.896 billion, compared to $25.278 billion in July–April 2023–24. The increase reflects strong performance across multiple export segments, including textiles, cutlery, leather, sports goods, and agricultural products.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s imports also grew, rising by 7.55% in the ten-month period. Imports increased from $44.900 billion in the previous fiscal year to $48.292 billion in 2024–25. This rise in imports reflects growing domestic demand for machinery, fuel, and industrial raw materials, possibly indicating signs of recovery and investment in local industries.

Despite the recent dip in April’s cutlery figures, the industry remains stable and continues to contribute to Pakistan’s export earnings. The upward trajectory in cutlery exports confirms the sector’s resilience and its ability to support the country’s broader trade growth and economic goals.
