In a major breakthrough, China has accelerated the construction of Pakistan’s Mohmand Dam, with concrete filling now officially underway. This marks a critical milestone in the development of one of Pakistan’s most significant hydropower and water security projects.

Located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Mohmand Dam is a national flagship initiative aimed at addressing Pakistan’s growing energy demands and water management challenges. The project, under construction since 2019, is being built by the state-owned China Energy Engineering Corporation and was originally slated for completion in 2026.

With the pace of construction now increasing, this development showcases the continued strength of Pakistan-China collaboration under long-term strategic frameworks like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Once completed, the dam is expected to play a pivotal role in flood control, agricultural irrigation, and the generation of clean, renewable energy, helping to ensure long-term water and energy security for the nation.
