Pakistani superstar Mahira Khan, widely recognised for her powerful performances in top-rated Pakistani dramas like “Humsafar” and “Sadqay Tumhare” and films such as “Superstar” and “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad“, is currently in the United States promoting her upcoming Pakistani film Love Guru with co-star Humayun Saeed.

During a promotional event, a fan asked whether she would consider returning to Bollywood. Mahira, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 2017 blockbuster Raees, gave a calm, measured response.

“I think we need to focus inward and invest in our own industry,” she said. “I don’t believe in cancel culture or boycotts. Broadly speaking, I don’t think that’s the right approach. But given the current situation and heightened emotions, taking extreme stances might seem understandable. However, instead of being reactive, we should focus on building and improving ourselves.”

She added, “At the end of the day, your own country is your safe space. I truly believe in prioritising Pakistan.”

Her comments quickly gained traction across social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, with fans and industry experts sharing mixed reactions. While many praised her thoughtful and mature tone, emphasising her call to support the local entertainment industry, others wanted a firmer stance regarding cross-border collaborations.

One fan commented, “She gave a politically correct answer, but people were hoping for more clarity.” In contrast, another said, “She’s absolutely right. Pakistan’s drama industry is among the best in Asia—we need to strengthen it, not seek validation from others.”

Mahira Khan’s statement reflects a growing shift among Pakistani celebrities toward promoting local cinema and television. As tensions between India and Pakistan continue to influence cross-border entertainment, her remarks highlight the importance of self-reliance in media, creative independence, and investment in Pakistan’s cultural talent.
