The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has firmly dismissed claims suggesting it will withdraw from the upcoming Asia Cup and other Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events. These reports surfaced after recent India-Pakistan tensions, with an Indian Express article alleging that the BCCI had decided to skip all ACC tournaments.

The report claimed the BCCI had communicated its decision to the ACC, stating it would not participate in the men’s Asia Cup scheduled for September or the women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup to be hosted by Sri Lanka in June. The ACC, following Jay Shah’s resignation, is currently led by Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia denied these claims, stating on Monday:
“Since this morning, we’ve seen reports saying the BCCI has decided not to take part in the Asia Cup and the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup—both ACC events. These reports are entirely baseless. The BCCI has not discussed or made any decision on the upcoming ACC events, let alone communicated anything to the ACC.”

Saikia further emphasized that the BCCI’s current focus is on the ongoing IPL 2025 season and India’s forthcoming tour of England for both the men’s and women’s teams.

India, the defending champions and the most successful side in Asia Cup history, are set to host this year’s edition. Alongside India, the participating teams include Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
