Popular television actor Aman Verma has surprised fans with an unexpected shift in his career — trading in scripts for sleight of hand as he steps into the world of magic. When asked about this surprising transition, Verma joked that it was all for his “paapi pet”, a humorous reference to earning a livelihood.
A clip of Verma performing a magic trick has gone viral on social media, showing the former actor executing a classic vanishing act using a champagne bottle and a newspaper. Sharing the video on Instagram, he captioned it, “Well, this is where I learned the tricks of being a magician. It was a little difficult, but I managed. It’s all in the sleight of hand. Ladies and gentlemen, here comes the magician called AMAN YATAN VERMA (sic).”

The internet responded with a mix of curiosity and humor. One fan asked in disbelief, “Bhaisahab, ye kis line mein aa gaye aap?” (Brother, what have you gotten yourself into?), to which Verma responded with a laugh, “Paapi pet ka sawaal hai, dost. Kya karein?” (It’s a matter of survival, my friend. What can I do?).
Others took a more nostalgic tone, praising his talent. One comment read, “He’s a truly gifted actor who brings every character to life. I watched all his TV shows after school—such good memories! Keep shining, we Indians recognise and admire your talent (sic).”
However, not all comments were kind. One labeled him a ‘naklee aadmi’ (fake person). Verma responded with poetic grace: “Aajkal meri jaan, asli hai kaun? Sab log mukhauta laga kar ji rahe hain.” (These days, my love, who is real? Everyone is living behind a mask.)
Known for roles like Anupam Kapadia in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and hosting popular shows such as Khullja Sim Sim and Indian Idol, Verma’s new act continues to keep audiences talking.
