PM thanks UAE leadership for playing a positive role in reducing tensions between India and Pakistan in recent times. PM Shehbaz Sharif met Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler of Abu Dhabi and president of the United Arab Emirates, during his one-day official visit. He valued the UAE’s persistent efforts to advance communication, peace, and stability in the region.

The visit demonstrated Islamabad’s gratitude to the countries that supported Pakistan’s position during its impasse with New Delhi. After what Pakistan called a “false flag operation” in Pahalgam, tensions increased. Both nations responded by exchanging airstrikes and missiles. India lost six aircraft, including a Rafale jet, the Pakistani military said.

Both leaders recognised the continued cooperation and the increasing momentum in bilateral relations. They decided to keep collaborating closely on their common objectives of regional prosperity and peace. The long-standing, trust-based ties between Pakistan and the UAE were also strengthened by the meeting.

They committed to extending cooperation in important areas and investigated bilateral, regional, and international issues of shared interest. Additionally, PM Shehbaz extended his invitation to the UAE President to come to Pakistan.

Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, and PM’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi were among the important individuals in attendance at the meeting.

Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President’s brother and the UAE’s National Security Advisor, greeted the prime minister warmly at Al Bateen Airport. Ali Ahmed Al Shamsi, the secretary general of the UAE Supreme National Security Council, and Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, also attended the reception. PM Shehbaz was escorted to the Presidential Palace by them.

At London Tech Week 2025 in Abu Dhabi, Pakistan is a shining example.

Later on in the day, PM Shehbaz emphasised Pakistan’s involvement in the Abu Dhabi-hosted London Tech Week 2025. In his remarks to the international forum, he underlined Pakistan’s resolve to develop into a knowledge-driven economy. He commended those involved for demonstrating Pakistan’s advancements in innovation, digital transformation, and youth empowerment.

According to the prime minister, Pakistan’s increasing online visibility demonstrated its aspirations for the future and its commitment to global integration. He confirmed that Pakistan wants to use its youth and technology to promote international participation and development.

PM thanks UAE: On Thursday evening, PM Shehbaz concluded his official engagements in the United Arab Emirates and returned to Pakistan.

PM Takes Notice of Salary Hike for Parliament Leadership

Separately, PM Shehbaz noted that the Senate chairman and speaker of the National Assembly had received pay increases that were more than five times their previous salaries. He asked the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to provide a thorough report.

Both the public and members of the party criticised the increase, which went from Rs205,000 to Rs1.3 million per month. Senior PML-N officials publicly expressed their disapproval, including Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Asif, the minister of defence.

However, at a post-budget press conference, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb justified the raises by pointing to changes made to a number of official positions. According to reports, some pay increases were as high as 550%.
