Pakistanis return from Iran

Amid growing regional hostilities, 1,814 Pakistani citizens returned from Iran through the Taftan border in Balochistan, local officials reported. Pakistanis return from Iran. The return followed rising tensions in the Middle East, especially due to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, which raised safety concerns for foreign nationals.

Diverse Groups Safely Returned

Officials in Chagai district confirmed the repatriation included 428 pilgrims, 655 students, 566 tourists, 160 deportees, and five foreign nationals. The latest update noted that 112 tourists and 24 students crossed the border at Taftan.

Deputy Commissioner Chagai said authorities are providing full support to the returnees. Assistance includes transport, medical care, and help with required documents. Local and federal departments are working together to ensure a smooth and safe return.

Government Steps Up Response

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that 450 Pakistani pilgrims had already reached home safely. In a tweet, he shared that the government was actively working to bring back Pakistani students still in Iran.

Dar also emphasized the embassy’s efforts in coordinating the evacuation process. He assured that steps were in place to ensure their safety and speed up the repatriation.

Dar also noted that Pakistan’s diplomatic missions remain highly active. The Pakistani embassy in Baghdad is currently coordinating with local authorities to assist Pakistani pilgrims stranded in Iraq, where commercial flight operations have been disrupted due to the closure of the country’s airspace.

PIA Launches Special Operations

Amid the escalating crisis, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) launched a special evacuation mission to bring home stranded citizens. The airline deployed aircraft and crew to ensure the safe return of Pakistanis from conflict zones.

On Tuesday, a PIA flight left Peshawar for Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, to manage evacuation logistics. The airline plans to expand these operations in coordination with government authorities.

Government Prioritizes Humanitarian Efforts

This repatriation initiative shows the government’s strong commitment to protect its people abroad. As the Middle East tensions grow, Pakistani officials are increasing diplomatic efforts and logistical support to ensure the safe evacuation of nationals.

Authorities expect more flights and evacuations in the coming days. They also urged citizens in high-risk areas to stay in touch with embassies and follow official travel guidance.
