HYDERABAD – Hyderabad water crisis 2025 Hyderabad’s water shortages seem to be worsening due to failures at the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation (HWSC). People are still struggling to find drinkable water even with plenty of water available in the Indus River and the Kotri Barrage releasing into the Akramwah, Old Phuleli, and New Phuleli canals.
In fact HWSC cannot even provide its stated daily requirement of 60 million gallons, sending residents to pay for overpriced water tankers or else overcrowded filtering plant locations. Despite the dire situation authorities have done nothing and have offered no solution.
Citizens Question Intent Behind Crisis
A number of societal groups believe that some officials are intentionally limiting supply to generate profit for private tanker business interests. This idea has raised suspicions that the crisis may be deliberate with the civic unpaid price.
The impact of the shortage has hit neighborhoods in Latifabad, Hyderabad City, Kohisar, Phuleli, Preetabad, Tando Tayyab, Faqir ka Pirr, Gaari Khata, Khokhar Mohalla, Qazi Qayyum Road, Pakka Qila, and Qasimabad. In some mosques, no water has been provided for ablution, raising concerns as religious practices approach.

Leadership Fails to Respond
Even though there is collective pain that is affecting so many people, no political party, religious associates or businesses responded. This lack of response is disappointing and disbelieving to the residents. They feel abandoned in their time of need.
Muharram Adds Pressure
With Muharram approaching, families are beginning to plan for water usage in respect of the majalis and nazr-o-nayaz. Rocgardless of that, the potential water requirement for Muharram would drastically increase the demand on an uncertain water distribution system.
Hyderabad Residents Demand Reform
People of Hyderabad are calling for instant lgovernment action. They now want a reliable water system and further accountability from HWSC staff. Many have requested an independent investigation into the allegations of misconduct and the alleged manipulation of the water supply.
The Hyderabad water crisis 2025 could very well become a humanitarian crisis should authorities fail to take action, and residents do not want just clean water, they want justice, transparency, and authentic leadership.
