Pakistan Stuns Malaysia to Reach Asian Doubles Squash Final

Iqbal and Zaman Edge Past Malaysia in Thrilling Semi-Final

SARAWAK, MALAYSIA – Pakistan Asian Doubles Squash. Pakistan’s top squash pair, Nasir Iqbal and Noor Zaman, advanced to the final of the 2nd Asian Doubles Squash Championship after a hard-fought 2-1 win over host nation Malaysia in the semi-final held on Wednesday.

Malaysia’s team, consisting of Duncan Lee and Syafiq Kamal, captured the first set 11-10 at the Jalan Stadium in Sarawak. However, Iqbal and Zaman responded with determination, bouncing back to secure the next two sets 11-9, ultimately sealing the victory in a tightly contested 69-minute battle.

Pakistan to Face India in Final Clash

After their semi-final triumph, Iqbal and Zaman are set to face India in the championship final scheduled for tomorrow. The match is expected to be intense, as both teams aim for the prestigious title.

Quarter-Final Performance Showed Dominance

On Tuesday, Pakistan defeated South Korea 2-1 in the quarter-finals. The match lasted just 37 minutes, showcasing the pair’s solid coordination and aggressive gameplay.

Throughout the tournament, the duo has displayed top-tier form, combining experience and youthful energy to overcome challenging opponents.

Experience from Recent Tournaments in Malaysia

Earlier this month, Iqbal and Zaman also competed in the 23rd Asian Individual Squash Championships, also held in Malaysia. Iqbal advanced to the quarter-finals after dominating Lai Cheuk Nam of Hong Kong, while Zaman narrowly lost to Malaysia’s Joachim Chuah in a 3-2 pre-quarterfinal match.

Zaman’s Rising Career on the Global Stage

Noor Zaman has recently gained attention after winning the U23 World Squash Championship in April. He achieved a stunning comeback victory over Egypt’s Karim El Torkey, proving his potential on the global stage and earning praise from squash analysts worldwide.

High Stakes Ahead for Pakistan

The upcoming final between Pakistan and India promises high-level squash action. With Iqbal’s experience and Zaman’s growing momentum, Pakistan eyes a major continental title. A win will not only boost national pride but also reaffirm Pakistan’s legacy in international squash.
