The Punjab garbage tax collection will officially begin on 1st July-2025 as part of the province’s ambitious Rs200 billion ‘Suthra Punjab’ (Clean Punjab) initiative. This project will enhance sanitation in the urban and rural settings.

Local governments and trash management agencies, including Lahore trash Management Company (LWMC), will collect monthly rubbish fees. The charge will be based on the size and type of property. The fees will be between Rs200 and Rs5,000 per month.

Properties in informal or unplanned communities will not be subject to this tax. These households are currently exempt from the official policy. The official policy exempts these households at present.

Healthier Lives, Cleaner Streets

Punjab garbage tax collection: CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz started this big initiative to improve rural sanitation standards on level with those in metropolis. The government has already begun door-to-door rubbish collection in many districts. The programme will soon expand to include more sectors.

All the departments involved were instructed by the government to make final preparations before July. This will gather garbage on a regular basis, handle waste in a proper manner and keep the environment clean throughout Punjab.

It is among the biggest sanitation campaigns in the history of the province. It is an indication of the government taking the issue of enhancing the health of the people and making Punjab cleaner and greener seriously. The main objectives of this continuous initiative are cleaner streets, less disease, and improved quality of life.
