The Punjab garbage tax collection will officially begin on 1st July-2025 as part of the province’s ambitious Rs200 billion ‘Suthra Punjab’ (Clean Punjab) initiative. This project will enhance sanitation in the urban and rural settings.
Local governments and trash management agencies, including Lahore trash Management Company (LWMC), will collect monthly rubbish fees. The charge will be based on the size and type of property. The fees will be between Rs200 and Rs5,000 per month.
Properties in informal or unplanned communities will not be subject to this tax. These households are currently exempt from the official policy. The official policy exempts these households at present.
