Government Introduces Innovative Machines to Tackle Plastic Waste

Lahore plastic bottle recycling. In an eco-conscious step toward a cleaner city, the Punjab government has joined hands with a private firm to combat plastic waste through a smart incentive scheme. As part of the Chief Minister’s Green Credits Program, authorities will install recycling machines across Lahore that pay users for every plastic bottle they deposit.

Locally-Made Machines Powered by Chinese Technology

The machines, manufactured locally with Chinese technological assistance, will be installed next month in four major universities and various commercial areas throughout Lahore. Their purpose is to promote responsible waste disposal by offering immediate cash and green credit rewards.

Simple Process to Earn Cash from Waste

Using the machine is quick and easy. Users press Button A, insert an empty plastic bottle, provide their mobile phone number, and press Button B. The machine then displays the green credits earned, which can also be monitored via a dedicated mobile app.

According to Chairman Gulfam Abid, Lahore produces about 500 tons of plastic bottle waste daily. This initiative encourages individuals to help reduce this burden while earning small cash amounts.

Cash for Plastic Bottles

Earn Up to Rs. 1,000 Through Bottle Recycling

Participants in the program can earn as much as Rs. 1,000 by sending in forty half-liter bottles or twenty 1.5-liter bottles. This enables people to support environmental conservation while earning rewards.

Scrap Collectors Also Included in the Program

To increase its impact, the initiative includes Lahore’s 18,000 registered scrap collectors. Through the app, these collectors can set up bottle pickups at their location and register. Convenience and inclusivity are ensured by weighing and exchanging the bottles for cash after collection.

Recycled Plastic Used for Roads and Construction

The plastic collected won’t go to waste. In order to contribute to greener infrastructure and less waste from construction, it will be converted into eco-friendly bricks, pavement blocks, and road repair materials.

A Model for Sustainable Urban Innovation

The Lahore plastic bottle recycling effort shows how public participation, digital solutions, and environmental responsibility can align. With this initiative, Lahore sets a strong example of how technology and citizen engagement can help address one of the biggest environmental challenges of modern times.
