Islamabad Weather Update: Rain Predicted Sunday Amid Intense Heatwave

LAHORE – Good news for residents of Islamabad as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a rainy Sunday with partly cloudy skies in the capital.

According to the latest advisory, thunderstorms and rain are expected to bring some temporary relief from the ongoing heatwave affecting the region. Temperatures on Sunday are predicted to range between 39°C and 41°C, offering a slight drop from the scorching weather experienced recently.

On Saturday, the federal capital recorded a high of 40°C, with humidity levels remaining below 30%. While the upcoming rain may help reduce the heat, it could also cause localized disruptions, such as slippery roads and waterlogging. Citizens, especially drivers and pedestrians, are advised to remain cautious.

Nationwide Forecast:

The heatwave will persist in most parts of the country for the next two to three days. Daytime temperatures will remain 5 to 7°C above normal across northern and central regions, including Islamabad, Punjab, KP, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad Weather Forecast

In the southern regions—Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan—temperatures are forecasted to be 4 to 6°C above average. A high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere is contributing to the hot and dry conditions and is expected to linger for another couple of days.

However, rain, winds, and thunderstorms are likely during the evening and night hours in Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper KP, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas.

Authorities urge residents to monitor official advisories and take safety precautions as intermittent rain may coincide with extreme heat in several regions.
