PM’s Bold Support for Iran’s Nuclear Plans Sparks Global Reactions

TEHRAN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Iran’s right to pursue a peaceful civilian nuclear program during his visit to Tehran on Monday. PM Shehbaz supports Iran nuclear program and He assured Iranian leaders that Islamabad would cooperate closely on all mutual concerns.

Meeting with Supreme Leader Khamenei

Shehbaz arrived in Tehran as part of his regional diplomatic mission and held detailed discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at Sa’dabad Palace. He also met Iranian Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

The Pakistani delegation included Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarrar.

During a joint media address with President Pezeshkian after delegation-level talks, PM Shehbaz expressed deep gratitude for Iran’s backing during Pakistan’s recent tensions with India. He emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear ambitions, stating, “We stand with our Iranian brothers in supporting their right to a civilian nuclear program.”

PM Shehbaz supports Iran’s civilian nuclear rights, calls for stronger trade and regional unity.

Later, PM Shehbaz and his team met Supreme Leader Khamenei. Khamenei praised Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace. He also acknowledged Shehbaz’s efforts to strengthen Iran-Pakistan relations. Khamenei prayed for Pakistan’s ongoing prosperity.

Before his visit, PM Shehbaz told IRNA that trade between Pakistan and Iran had grown significantly. He pledged to raise trade to $10 billion in the coming years. He emphasized the need for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and long-term economic cooperation. He highlighted the importance of economic ties between Balochistan and Sistan-Baluchestan to fight terrorism.

The prime minister thanked Iran for supporting Pakistan during the conflict with India. He also appreciated Iran’s offer to mediate, which Pakistan accepted but India rejected. Shehbaz stressed that resolving Kashmir and Palestine issues is vital for lasting peace and justice.

On Iran-US relations, PM Shehbaz expressed optimism. He said he has faith in Iranian leadership. He believes diplomacy and dialogue are the best ways to solve conflicts.
