Balochistan, Pakistan – May 31, 2025:
Balochistan weather today is under the grip of an intense heatwave, with extreme temperatures recorded across many regions. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a public alert, urging residents to take preventive measures as the province faces one of its hottest days in recent memory.
Turbat Sizzles at 54°C
The southern city of Turbat has recorded the highest temperature of the day—an unbearable 54°C. With dry air and minimal humidity, the heat feels even more extreme. Streets remain deserted during peak hours as most residents choose to stay indoors. Health experts and local officials strongly advise avoiding direct sunlight, especially between 12 PM and 4 PM, when the sun is at its strongest.
Quetta Sees Milder Conditions
In comparison, Quetta, the provincial capital, experienced much milder weather. The temperature peaked at 29°C under partly cloudy skies. Cool breezes from the surrounding hills offered some relief. However, the UV index remains dangerously high, prompting officials to recommend sunblock, hats, and proper hydration for anyone working outdoors.

Gwadar Bakes in Humid Heat
In Gwadar, the mercury climbed to 43°C, accompanied by a stifling 74% humidity. The high moisture levels have created an oppressive environment along the coast. Fishermen, construction workers, and others working in the open are particularly vulnerable to heat exhaustion. Medical teams have been put on standby in many localities.
Khuzdar and Zhob Remain Extremely Hot
Further inland, Khuzdar and Zhob also faced severe heat. Khuzdar reported a high of 39°C, while Zhob followed closely with 38°C. Both areas are expected to stay dry, with no rain forecast in the coming days. The lack of wind and cloud cover is contributing to rising discomfort levels.
Heatwave Alert Continues
The PMD warns that the heatwave could persist into the first week of June. Citizens across Balochistan are advised to:
- Stay hydrated
- Avoid direct sun exposure
- Wear loose, light-colored clothing
- Follow official weather updates
