Sindh Increases Health Budget for 2025–26

KARACHI – Sindh health budget 2025. The Sindh government has raised its health budget by 8% for the fiscal year 2025–26. The funding now stands at Rs326 billion, up from Rs302 billion last year.

Rs3.4 Trillion Budget Approved

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired the budget session. The cabinet approved a total budget of Rs3.4 trillion for the upcoming year.

Salary Increases for Govt Employees

The government plans to raise salaries by 10 to 20 percent. This increase aims to support workers dealing with rising inflation. It is also meant to boost morale and efficiency in public services.

New Government Jobs Announced

The province will also open new job positions. These roles will be spread across multiple departments. The move targets rising unemployment and seeks to enhance provincial service delivery.

Sindh budget boosts health, salaries, and job creation.

Public Health Gains Attention

The increased health budget shows Sindh’s commitment to public healthcare. Officials aim to improve hospitals, facilities, and access to essential services.

Federal Budget Faces Criticism

At the federal level, health policies face criticism. Pakistan National Heart Association (Panah) Secretary General Sanaullah Ghumman recently addressed the issue.

Panah Demands Tax on Junk Food

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Ghumman criticized the federal budget. He claimed it favors corporate interests over public health.

He said, “Fuel has been taxed, but junk food remains untaxed.” Ghumman demanded a 20% Federal Excise Duty on ultra-processed foods.

Health Crisis in Pakistan

“Every minute, a Pakistani suffers a heart attack,” Ghumman stated. “Over 1,100 people die daily due to diabetes. Pakistan ranks first globally in diabetes rates.”

He urged the government to act and adopt health-focused taxation policies.

Sindh Budget Offers Hope

Despite national concerns, Sindh’s provincial strategy appears proactive. With new jobs, better pay, and a higher health budget, the province aims to improve lives.

Whether these plans succeed remains to be seen. However, Sindh’s 2025–26 budget reflects a stronger focus on welfare and health reform.
