Strategic trade growth and Saudi investment in energy and healthcare mark a new era in bilateral economic relations
Islamabad, 13 June 2025 – Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have taken their economic cooperation to new heights, with both nations boosting trade and launching major investment ventures.
Exports to Saudi Arabia Reach Historic High
Pakistan’s exports to Saudi Arabia grew by over 41% in the last fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In a report to the National Assembly, the ministry revealed that goods exports reached $710.3 million. When combined with services, the total value of exports surged past $1.08 billion—the highest in history.
This significant rise in trade reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing demand for Pakistani goods and services. It also shows that both nations are aligning economically, beyond just diplomatic ties.

Saudi Energy Giants Invest in Pakistan
Saudi Arabia has backed its trade ties with Pakistan through large-scale investments. Saudi Aramco purchased a 40% stake in GO, a Pakistani oil and gas firm. This move signals strong trust in Pakistan’s energy sector and its future potential.
In another major deal, Al Wafi Energy took control of a majority stake in Shell Pakistan. This acquisition brings fresh capital and international expertise into the country’s energy infrastructure.
Healthcare Sector Gains Saudi Support
Saudi involvement is also growing in healthcare. The Saudi German Hospital Group has committed $250 million to building a 300-bed hospital in Lahore Smart City. This modern medical facility aims to raise healthcare standards and create employment for local professionals.
Analysts See Strategic Shift in Bilateral Relations
Economic experts say these developments mark a clear shift from traditional diplomacy to a strong, strategic economic partnership. Both Islamabad and Riyadh are actively working to expand cooperation in trade, energy, and health.
With continued collaboration and mutual trust, Pakistan-Saudi ties are set to become deeper, broader, and more resilient in the years ahead.
