OIC Meeting to Address Regional Escalation in Istanbul

Turkey & Pakistan: The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had a conversation with the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. They talked about the worsening situation in the region following the unprovoked Israeli attacks on Iran. The two leaders denounced the Israeli aggression and expressed serious concern about the increasing instability in the region.

The Foreign Office said that Ishaq Dar will be present at the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, which will be held in Istanbul next week. The events will also pay tribute to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The phone call between the two foreign ministers followed an earlier conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdoğan. The two heads of state were very critical of the actions of Israel. They cautioned that such actions may pose a grave danger to peace and stability in the region.

Israeli Air Strikes Spark Regional Tensions

On June 13, Israel carried out a series of air attacks on Tehran and a number of military and nuclear installations in Iran. The attacks assassinated several high-ranking Iranian military officials, at least six nuclear scientists, and dozens of civilians, which caused a severe international outcry.

Iran responded by firing ballistic missiles at a number of Israeli-occupied cities. This retaliatory measure was a significant escalation, bringing the region to the brink of a wider and more dangerous conflict.

Turkey & Pakistan called on the international community to act decisively. They demanded urgent action to defuse tensions and guarantee adherence to international law in reaction to these aggressive developments.
