Heavy Showers and Flood Risk Loom Over Low-Lying Areas

Karachi monsoon rain forecast. Karachi will receive its first spell of monsoon rain this weekend, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and other top weather services. As the week progresses, hot and humid weather will persist, but strong winds and heavy rain are likely to arrive by Saturday. Weather experts warn that urban flooding may affect low-lying neighborhoods.

Hot, Humid Weather to Continue Until the Weekend

PMD reports that Karachi will face partly cloudy skies and high humidity through Thursday. Temperatures will range between 33°C and 36°C, adding to residents’ discomfort. The heatwave will hold until the weekend, when monsoon conditions are expected to bring a shift.

Private Forecasts Align with PMD Warning

MeteoGroup and AccuWeather support PMD’s prediction. These agencies highlight a strong chance of rain over the weekend. Moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, along with a westerly wave, are expected to impact southern Sindh, including Karachi.

Flood Risk in Karachi’s Vulnerable Areas

Officials warn that areas like Korangi, Lyari, and Saddar may face flooding. Authorities have issued alerts and advised residents to limit travel during heavy rain and secure homes against water entry.

Rain Likely in Other Sindh Cities Too

Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Hyderabad will also likely receive moderate to heavy rainfall. PMD expects thunderstorms and strong winds in these regions. Disruptions to power and transportation are possible.

Monsoon Activity to Intensify by Midweek

By Wednesday, rain activity will spread to Kashmir, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar, and northeastern Punjab. Isolated but intense downpours may affect Islamabad and surrounding areas.

Extreme Heat Persists in Other Regions

Over the last 24 hours, hot and humid weather dominated the country. Sibbi, Turbat, and Jacobabad recorded temperatures as high as 45°C. In Punjab, Jhang received 4mm of rain, while Sialkot recorded 1mm.

Authorities Urged to Act Quickly

PMD continues to monitor the evolving weather. It has urged city officials to prepare for possible flooding by clearing drainage systems and issuing safety alerts.

Karachiites Advised to Stay Informed

As the weekend approaches, residents should follow PMD updates closely. Planning ahead is essential, especially in areas prone to flooding.
