Flight Operations Restart After Brief Suspension

PIA resumes Gulf flights. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) resumed its flights to Gulf countries on Tuesday after a brief suspension caused by escalating tensions in the Middle East. The decision followed the announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, which reopened air routes and reduced security risks for civilian aircraft.

Confirmation Issued via Social Media

The airline confirmed the resumption on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “PIA flight operations to Gulf/KSA countries are resumed as of 12:30 PST.” The previous day, the airline had suspended several routes due to heightened military activity that threatened aviation safety.

Multiple Delayed Flights Back on Schedule

According to PIA’s spokesperson, the airline has now restarted delayed flights from major Pakistani cities including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot, and Multan. These flights connect to key Gulf destinations such as Dubai, Doha, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Madinah, and Dammam. Depending on the route, the delays ranged from seven to fifteen hours. However, return flights may still face some schedule adjustments.

Airspace Closure Disrupted Passenger Plans

Earlier, the growing conflict between Iran and Israel prompted PIA to ground its Gulf-bound flights. The escalating situation led to temporary closure of Iranian airspace, disrupting travel plans for hundreds of passengers across Pakistan.

Ceasefire Brings Calm to the Skies

Fortunately, diplomatic efforts succeeded. A ceasefire agreement between the two nations was reached late Monday night. Former U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the truce on his social media platform, writing, “THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!”

PIA Prioritizes Passenger Safety

Following this development, PIA acted quickly to resume normal operations. The airline emphasized that passenger safety remains its top priority. It also advised travelers to stay updated through the airline’s website or helpline for any further announcements.

Emergency Evacuation for Stranded Pakistanis

In a separate emergency mission, PIA dispatched a special aircraft from Peshawar to Ashgabat to rescue Pakistani citizens stranded due to the flight suspensions. This timely operation ensured their safe return home, highlighting the airline’s commitment to passenger welfare.

Airline Stays Vigilant Amid Regional Uncertainty

Looking ahead, PIA confirmed that it continues to monitor the regional situation. The airline will make operational changes as needed, depending on security developments, to maintain both safety and schedule integrity.
