Pakistan has achieved a major milestone in agriculture by ranking 3rd in global mango exports and 5th in overall mango production. The country is widely known for growing some of the world’s most flavorful and aromatic mangoes.
A Global Fruit with Local Roots
Pakistan produces around 1.8 million tons of mangoes each year. This places it behind only a few nations like India, China, Thailand, and Indonesia. The mango-growing belt stretches mainly across Punjab and Sindh. Cities such as Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Hyderabad are famous for producing top-quality mango varieties.
Rising Demand for Pakistani Mangoes
In recent years, Pakistan’s mango exports have grown significantly. As a result, the country now stands 3rd globally in mango exports. In the last season, Pakistan exported over 150,000 metric tons of mangoes to more than 50 countries. These exports earned valuable foreign exchange and boosted the national economy.

Popular export varieties include Sindhri, Chaunsa, Anwar Ratol, and Langra. These are loved for their sweetness, aroma, and rich taste. Moreover, exporters are improving packaging, cold chain systems, and shipping methods to reach new global markets like Japan, South Korea, and Russia.
Helping Farmers and the Economy
This mango boom is creating real benefits for farmers across Pakistan. Many farmers rely on mango cultivation as their main source of income. Now, with support from the government and private sector, they are adopting modern farming methods. These include drip irrigation, disease-resistant plants, and organic farming practices.
In addition, more training programs are helping farmers meet international export standards.
Government Support and Future Goals
The government is actively promoting mango exports. It is offering subsidies, organizing international trade fairs, and streamlining export procedures. These efforts aim to strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global mango market.
Looking ahead, Pakistan plans to explore e-commerce channels to sell mangoes directly to global customers. The country also wants to enter new markets and further improve supply chains.
From Punjab’s mango orchards to homes across Dubai, London, and New York, Pakistani mangoes are making a global mark. With increasing demand and better export systems, Pakistan’s mango exports are ripe for even greater success.
