The Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Karachi achieved a historic revenue milestone in fiscal year 2024–25 by collecting Rs. 3.5 trillion, marking a 29% rise from last year’s Rs. 2.515 trillion. In June 2025, LTO Karachi reported an exceptional monthly collection of Rs. 449.05 billion, a significant 48% jump from Rs. 302.83 billion collected in June 2024. In addition, the office set a new single-day national record by generating Rs. 184.7 billion in tax revenue—its highest ever in a single day.
Income Tax Tops Revenue Sources
According to the breakdown of the fiscal year’s revenue, income tax emerged as the largest contributor, bringing in Rs. 1.818 trillion. Sales tax followed with Rs. 1.301 trillion, while federal excise duty contributed Rs. 222.2 billion. These figures show how highly compliant key industries like manufacturing, finance, communications, and energy are.
Recovery of Outstanding Taxes Hits Rs. 31 Billion
In addition to its usual collections, the LTO was able to collect Rs. 31 billion in outstanding tax obligations during the year. Careful follow-up on long-standing arrears, strict enforcement, and improved auditing procedures made these recoveries possible. By taking this step, the office confirms its dedication to enhancing accountability and reducing tax system leakage.

Officials attribute the record performance to real-time monitoring, data-driven auditing practices, and modernized digital infrastructure. Continued structural reforms and collaboration with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have also contributed to revenue growth and taxable base expansion.
