MULTAN – Multan Mango Theft 2025 A massive mango theft in Nawabpur, Multan, has left farmers angry and anxious. During a planned overnight operation between June 27 and 28, approximately 150 maunds (5,550 kilograms) of mangoes disappeared, focusing on four distinct orchards.

The fruit that was taken was valued by the police at more than Rs 900,000. The rising number of agricultural crimes in southern Punjab is highlighted by this concerning theft.

Residents Apprehend Suspect, FIR Sparks Backlash

Residents quickly apprehended Aqib Kalro, a suspect, and turned him over to the DHA Police Station. When the officers got there, they found a lot of the stolen fruit.

However, controversy quickly followed. The registered FIR mentioned only 25 maunds of mangoes as stolen, while the actual theft involved 150 maunds. Three complainants say their losses were left out, which created further mistrust.

Victims Accuse Police of Pressure and Neglect

The impacted farmers claim that the SHO coerced them into attending a private settlement. Police are accused of purposefully downplaying the extent of the theft. Tensions in the area also increased after the victims claimed that the accused’s supporters had threatened them.

Appeals Made to Punjab CM for Fair Inquiry

The orchard owners have urged Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and senior police officials to intervene. They want a full investigation and legal accountability. Moreover, they asked for protection, fearing retaliation.

Farmers Demand Stronger Protection and Reforms

The Multan mango heist highlights serious flaws in rural security. Farmers demand concrete reforms, stricter enforcement, and real-time support from law enforcement to prevent future incidents. Without decisive action, agricultural theft may become an even greater burden on struggling growers.

Additional Concern Over Local Police Conduct

This theft has raised fresh doubts about police transparency and accountability. Many residents now question whether law enforcement truly serves victims. Community members also demand oversight of local police stations, claiming this case reflects broader issues in the justice system.

As the investigation unfolds, the Multan mango heist continues to stir debate over how authorities handle agricultural crime in Pakistan. Local farmers urge stricter laws to prevent future orchard thefts.
