Rain System Arrives from the West
LAHORE – A rain-filled weather system moving in from the western side of Pakistan has initiated pre-monsoon rains in parts of Punjab, including Lahore. The showers have provided temporary relief from intense heat, though high humidity continues to create discomfort for residents despite a slight drop in temperature.
Temperature and Weather Forecast for Lahore
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Lahore is expected to experience temperatures between 28°C and 33°C today. The city will also witness gusty winds and scattered rainfall, as part of ongoing pre-monsoon activity which may strengthen in the days ahead.
Weather Alerts Issued for Punjab
The PMD has released an alert forecasting heavy rain and strong winds across multiple regions in Punjab. Following this, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a weather advisory effective from June 25 to July 1, urging the public and officials to prepare for possible weather-related challenges.
Drainage Readiness and Emergency Preparedness
To handle any potential emergencies, Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal directed all managing directors of WASA (Water and Sanitation Agency) to stay fully alert. He stressed the need for effective drainage operations during the rain to avoid urban flooding and public inconvenience.

WASA Lahore Stays Ready for Rain Response
WASA Lahore’s Managing Director, Ghafran Ahmed, confirmed that the agency has placed all operational staff on standby. Field teams will begin work as soon as the rain starts. These teams will actively manage drainage, focusing on low-lying areas to prevent water buildup and road blockages.
Authorities Urge Public Caution During Rain
The local authorities are advising individuals to remain indoors with heavy rain falling. They are encouraging individuals to limit travel as much as possible. People in areas prone to flooding or low-lying areas should take this position extra seriously and report emergencies to the appropriate departments immediately.
Monsoon Season Puts Readiness to the Test
This early rain could be the first sign of a prolonged monsoon season. The rains will give us at least some relief from the heat, but they carry with them the potential to cause flooding, traffic delays, and stress on our infrastructure. It is important to take steps to reduce these potential hazards.
Stay Updated and Follow Safety Measures
Lahore’s handling of this weather change will reflect its disaster readiness ahead of the full monsoon in July. Authorities advise residents to monitor weather reports and strictly follow official safety guidelines to stay protected.
